On the mend

On the mend.. though the sniffles remains; the fever has been gone for nearly 24 hours.    It was a nice treat to go out to Joe's Italian with "Maria" and "Jose" tonight; I forget what my nickname our waiter christened me with because I said that in Spanish, I'd just change the spelling of my name to "Lani", so it would be the same in English or Spanish.   It was the first sit down real-dinner that I'd had since being home sick.. I'd had some grilled cheese sandwiches, egg sandwiches, and soup.. but the first of real substance plus family and conversation.    BFF had checked in via text and voicemail to see if I was in need of anything and timing was such that I had already fed myself by those times - though I did I appreciate the check-ins.   It was good to see the youngest before starting another semester and always good to see the Mama.   I think part of the outting was so that Mama could lay eyes for herself upon me.   I had acciden...

Blah!

I've been sickly for the past few days....   woke up with a headache and a touch of sniffles on Wednesday morning... the headache resolved with some Walgreens Excedrin substitute and the sniffles seemed to pass as well.     That night, the cough started and by morning, I opted to head for MinuteClinic since my doctor's office was booked.   Negative on quick strep and flu tests; Rx for cough and sore throat and back home I went.   Slept on and off for the day; Friday didn't find me any better and a fever toying between 100-101.   Today, the temps have been ranging between 99.9 and 101 on the high end along with fatigue.    Had meant to text my check-in to Mama but had meandered from the bedroom to the couch without my phone and was thinking I should get up and text Mama, and then it was hours later when I woke up.  So obviously, my body needed some rest and recovery time.   I was then able to check-in with Mama.. both she and Hunter were ...

Sniffly Weekend

It's been a sniffly weekend... rain moved in Friday night I think... and along with it the sniffles.   Tried some Claritin-D thinking it was just a high ragweed count.   Hard time sleeping Friday night since my ears itched, my face hurt, my eyeballs hurt, my teeth hurt, and a tickly cough set in.   Swapped to DayQuil/NyQuil on Saturday and that seemed to be working.   Was awake and alert enough to get my Week 3 homework done and then back to bed.   Today it has been mainly JC meals, Dayquil during the day, naptime, then NyQuil for the night and back to bed.  Have checked in with Mama by voice and by text.  BFF checked in by text, she's on the way to London.    I am ready for these sniffles and the cough to go away.. I am sick of menthol and kleenex.   On top of it all, is that 'special time' of the month which is just no fun whether sick or well.     Hopefully, it is a better week ah...

Foo Bug

Started out the week with Monday off due to sinusitis.    Thought I was doing better so was in the office on Tuesday and most of Wednesday.   By lunch, I felt fairly green, but chalked it up to having just taken my meds on an empty tummy.  By 2:30, it was bad enough that I had to give it up and head home.  By 3:00 I was at home and puking up my toenails.  This would continue throughout the evening much to Mocha's distress as I puked up on one of her bathroom playrugs.   7Up and Saltines has been the diet for the last 18 hours and today is another sick day from the office.    Luckily this morning and afternoon, it is all staying down and I have graduated to add a bit of peanut butter to the crackers.

Still Recovering

Guess I am still recovering from this bug as I spent most of the day asleep... but the sniffles have improved and the cough isn't triggering the asthmatic wheeze thing... so in accordance with advice from Mamma C, my Dad, my BFF, and my DH, I'm taking it easy, taking meds and vitamin C, drinking plenty of fluids to stay hydrated. I'm a bit behind on DFW MS150 training, but I'm sure I'll be able to make up ground relatively quickly once I can get over this bug.

Recovering

Well, I'm on the mend from this goofy head cold. Worked from the office today because 3 hours worth of conference calls makes you yearn for your headset. Plus, I was working on this hot, hot, hot project request and was able to churn out the first draft of some paperwork today. I'm glad it's Friday and that I've got the weekend to relax and recuperate some more.

Still Stick

About once a year around this time, I get nailed with a nasty cold/flu bug.. this year is no exception. I've been down with this bug since Monday night. Stayed at home on Tues and Wed, but at least felt well enough to work remotely from home today. I'm hoping to be back in the office to work on all the HOT HOT HOT projects that I've been slammed with in just the past 48 hours. Today, the sniffles were a bit better; but the cough has been a big pain... coughed so much in the past 3 days that my abs and ribs hurt as if I had been doing lots of crunches.

You gots a foo

"You gots a foo" is what my hubby said to me... big fooey... I hope it is just a cold and not the flu... I'm just congested and coughing; but miserable enough to stay home from the office. I am sure my cubemates appreciate my efforts to keep my germs to myself. My kitty is enjoying me being home.

Finally on the mend

I'm finally on the mend... by the time of my doctor visit yesterday afternoon, the fever I'd been sporting since Saturday had finally broken. With the Thanksgiving holiday weekend approaching, hubby said to get to the doctor's office and get some antibiotics onboard and whatever other meds were needed.. so now I'm on a z-pack and some Rx decongestant. Yesterday was the first day I had spent more hours awake than asleep and today I am back in the office for what I hope will be a quiet and relatively easy day. For the holiday weekend, we'll be going to our usual Thanksgiving Dinner gathering with friends; I may do some shopping; hoping to catch the new 007 movie with hubby and then I'll probably see Bolt in 3D on my own. I also hope to get some knitting done and maybe even some holiday cards stamped.

Sleep

I have gotten lots of sleep in the last 3 days with this cold/flu thing.. I've been awake for maybe 2.5 hours so far today. The cough and cold syrup just knock me out. I may or may not go to the office tomorrow ~ depends if I am still running a temperature tomorrow morning. If I am, then it will be off to the doctor's office to add some antibiotics to the mix. If not, then I may go to the office.

Mizerable weekend

It has been a totally mizerable weekend... I was supposed to ride the 35 mile Turkey Roll with my best friend/cycling partner and her husband, but I woke up to sniffles, sneezies , and coughing... so I didn't figure that riding in near-freezing temperatures would be very good. Good news was that my BFF and her husband did complete the ride, so hooray for them! In the meantime I was in bed asleep for most of Saturday.. and again today.. running a low grade fever as well.. and the way I am feeling now, I think I'll be home from the office tomorrow as well. I'm sure my co-workers would appreciate me keeping my germs to myself, especially in a holiday week.

Yippee!

Ok, I'm feeling better; even worked onsite today for a very long 8hr day. Had a 1 3/4 pound loss tonight at TOPS; so 1 3/4 down; 23 1/4 more to go... but i'm just working toward 1 to 1 1/2 a week. Hopefully, I'll be able to return to some light exercise as I get past this nasty bout of bronchitis.
