Allen - Relay for Life

In January, I was blessed to be in Hawaii celebrating my grandmother's 101st birthday whilst others were here at home in Dallas remembering our friend  John Robbe  with root beer floats and other fun beverages.  Today, I participate in my first American Cancer Society Relay for Life and remember my friend. His love of good food, good wine, good friends, lots of laughter, and totally kicking my butt at midnight games of Words with Friends :)  Let's fight together so that no family loses another birthday to cancer.  Make a tax deductible donation here

For John

A fruity umbrella drink will be had in his honor... Though mine will be minus the spirits that he always enjoyed... Rest in peace my friend.

Not Enough

Not enough rum raisin ice cream in the world to solve some of life's problems...  and yes, my favorite peeps know this would not be my ice cream flavor of choice... as neither rum nor raisin appeals to me... but it has been a long standing tradition between me and my friend John when we were either sick or down in the dumps to chat about having ice cream to feel better-- and one of his faves was none other than rum raisin.      Unfortunately, not enough rum raisin ice cream or love enough in the world to save him from sarcoma... for if either were even remotely enough, he'd have kicked it and then some.    It's been a difficult week at the office as the work family struggled to deal with the news that he had entered hospice and for us to visit him sooner rather than later.    I'm glad that I had the chance to make that visit.    My wish and hope is that he may have a peaceful transition and ...

Thank you

The lives you've touched include mine.  Thank you.  For all the times you made me laugh! For all the hot chocolate baths you endured on my behalf.  For all the weekends you covered so I could ride my bike For never making me learn CPM until now  For late night games of Words with Friends - even though you totally kicked my ass!  For teaching me new words like CAPITULATE  For always caring enough to check in on me  For being totally knitworthy :) For co-parenting a cranky 'baby' named Julie.  For inspiring me to walk a new path and to find joy in every day - even the bad ones.  For being my friend.  Love ya!
