Scarf in a Scarf

When the Yarny WIPOff 2025 challenge inspires you to do something about "The summer of my divorce" (2011) project.. all that was left was weaving yarn tails and blocking. I got the yarn tails woven and it's now in the blocking queue. It's never too late to finish, frog or toss. #yarnywipoff2025 . This was a 50/50 silk/merino blend in DK. The pattern is scarf in a scarf (linking comments). The garter is full of tension issues as I had not fully learned how to control tension back then and it is representative of the history of that emotionally hard summer. It also goes by the alternate name this scarf was dubbed by some as the "Your husband in an a-hole" scarf. Anyhow, into a blocking bath with some sage soap and then into a donation drop off to find a new home.

Mama's 2012 Christmas Scarf

Normally, green is a prevalent color in choice for a scarf for Mama... but she had asked for a Neutral but not  White since green may not always go with every outfit or be appropriate for the occasion.   While on our Alaskan adventure, I could not resist the pull of the local yarn shoppe next to the pier in Juneau. Ok, let's face it, I cannot resist the pull of any local yarn shoppe as I think it is still important to support the brick and mortar stores.   So bought this lovely Tilli Tomas 100% hand painted silk with glass beads at Seaside Yarns .    It is deceptively light-weight, but still provides plenty of warmth.  It is dressy without being frilly and the basic black will go with nearly any outfit.

Braided Cable

I knit this twin to BFF's Christmas scarf for myself.  It is warm and toasty.  It may go to Alaska with me.

New Tradition

I may have created a new tradition of the New Year's scarf...   since sometimes there's just not enough time to get all those projects done in time for Christmas gift giving.    Here's Mina's reversible cabled scarf that I actually got done in time for Christmas.  Made in Lang Mille Colori Big in a lighter shade of grey than her other favorite Knit by Loni 1x1 ribbed scarf in the same yarn family. Here's Mama's 2011 New Year's Eve scarf made with Sirdar Shaggy Scarf .   It's got shades of deep mossy green and black.   It's soft and snuggly; is a nice length, width, and weight and will provide plenty of tactile experience along with warmth in her chilly office!

Ivan's Caterpillar Scarf

Ok, so I'm playing with my 3.2 megapixel Kodak easy share since my Canon 5mp has gone walkabout... here's a pick of the caterpillar scarf. I made it with RedHeart SuperSaver for ease of wash for mom and wear for Ivan. I will probably knit the wool version for myself. SuperBowl Sunday 2007

I'm enjoying watching the SuperBowl and finished Ivan's caterpillar scarf. Miami looks totally miserable with all that rain! Baltimore just intercepted again with 9:55 left in the 4th; score is 29 vs 17, Balti in the lead. Ivan's scarf is in the wash now; made with Red Heart SuperSaver. Madelyn's ballerina wrap is complete except for stitching in the ribbon ties. I'm headed to The Woolie Ewe tomorrow to get advice on how to sew it in. Now going to crochet some preemie caps while I watch the end of the game.
