Daffodil scarf complete

The Daffodil Scarf that I cast on during Yarn Harlot's Knit Olympics is finally complete (and now I see from looking at my blog archives that Mama's Undulating Waves scarf is one that had distracted me from this project (and then losing the pattern didn't help)... wow.. seems like soooo long ago that the Undulating Waves was done and then I need to finish blocking Mina's Eventide scarf.   I also got a little stressed out and was sans knitting for a while; then had to finish the mini-sweaters project with deadline.. but with a few evening sessions of stitching at Mama's, I finally got this little beauty completed! This is only the second project that I've completed for myself Project #10 from Knit Simple Winter 2009/10 issue.  Designer  Coralie Meslin Yarn:  Plymouth Baby Alpaca, 4 skeins

Outta the Frog Pond

After a few mental lapses resulting in missed beads and working knit cross instead of purl cross or purl cross instead of knit cross resulting in lots of time spent in the Frog Pond (rippit, rippit).. even though I have successfully completed the entire first half of this scarf... it just took a Quiet Morning alone with some yoga music and a purring kitty cat to get this project back on track.. and so I have finished the beaded section of the second half of BFF's Eventide beaded scarf, woohoo!    I think there are just now 40 more rows until this is ready for me to learn something new.. Kitchner Stitch to pair the two halves to make a whole...

Eventide Thru Row 40

Eventide through row 40; the beading for this half of the scarf is complete.   The next 50 or so rows should be a breeze... Not quite mindless knitting, since the yarnovers  & passing slipped stitches over to make the weaved-look take a bit of concentration...      My family is spoiled!

Eventide first look

Here's the first look at Eventide... 10 rows in...  it is going to be gorgeous... The smoky amethyst beads are going to be divine with the yarn colorway, though the scanner doesn't really give the colors enough justice.    Mama claims that her Susan Undulating Waves is the prettiest; but I think BFF will be prepared to argue that point when Eventide is completed and delivered.

Eventide

Since Mama's Susan Undulating Waves scarf is at the local yarn store waiting to be professionally blocked, I went ahead and cast on a new scarf, Eventide ,  by the same designer, Laura Nelkin of Nelkin Designs .   I have managed 10 rows so far; I may have to throw some lifelines in along the way because this one does take a bit of manipulating the double yarn-overs and the beads in the first 35 rows, then I should be able to drop the beads while I do the unbeaded section of this scarf.   So far, I only had to frog it a bit in the set-up rows; but elsewise doing ok.  Believe BFF shall be the recipient of this work of art; picture coming soon... unless she decides elsewise.... Most definitely cannot go to Mama since it contains wool ~ No sheep for Mama... or goat, alpaca, llama, camel, rabbit or any other furry creature due to allergies... but for her I find cottons, silks, bamboo, synthetics and blends. It is made with Schaefer Heather Yarn in Renata...
