Survivor Second Chances

Survivor Final 6- Jeremy and Wentworth still have Idols to play; Spencer and Tasha are doing some serious gameplay. I haven't really seen Kimmie doing much of anything in bold moves. I think Keith is playing a true-to-himself kind of game; I think the perception of others is that he is not a strategist... but he is strong in challenges and was holding on to fight-off Joe as long as possible.  Of the final 6, I prefer the Men over the Women - Keith, Spencer, Jeremy... and of the women, I think Wentworth has had to do the most damage control and played an Idol at the exact moment she needed it... now let's see what she does with the other one. Tasha has been playing hard. Kimmie will get to the final 3 if the others continue to see her as weak and beatable with the Jury. After watching Abi's My Ponderosa alongside Chaos Kass... perhaps Survivor should have an All Villains season... but I'd like to see a new batch of Newbies and see what they learned from this season...

Survivor Caramoan Finale

Survivor Caramoan has been a great season for Fans Vs Favorites II An unlikely bunch for Final 5 in any season of Survivor.   I've been cheering for Cochran the entire season and he was still the same awkward geeky guy he was in his first season.   He got in well with Stealth R Us and didn't make waves.   He should have been an immediate target for his history of backstabbing by flipping.   However, I felt if he could get to the Final 3, he would have enough power of persuasion and composure to secure the votes needed.   As it was, he received all 8 votes. Erik - Poor kid, went out 5th again - this time on medical due to low blood pressure and a body in starvation mode (in spite of the fact that he went on all of the Reward challenges where he had extra food).   He was mostly silent this season.  I would have like to see him in the Final 3 as I think his argument to the jury would have been that he learned from giving away his Immunity in his f...

Survivor Caramoan Final 5

Ok, Final 5 for Survivor Caramoan leaves 3 Faves and 2 Fans. Faves - Cochran, Dawn, Erik Fans - Sherri, Eddie I am disappointed that Brenda went home last night.   Sometimes you really enjoy a good blindside like last week's ousting of Andrea or when they sent Malcolm packing.   But Brenda had been playing low-key and had just given up her own time with her Dad as well as Dawn with her husband and son in order to give the other 4 tribe members time with their loved ones.   I think strategically if I had been in her shoes, I would have had to be selfish on that one rather than feed 4 tribe members the day before an Immunity Challenge. I wasn't surprised that Cochran voted to get rid of Brenda or with Sherri's vote since she's been scrambling since the merged.   I was surprised and disappointed in Dawn's vote - to oust Brenda who chose her first for the loved ones share; who has been there keeping her calm; who freaking dove into the mucky water and fetched you...

Survivor Caramoan Getting Interesting

Ok, post tribe merge, we've ousted 3 Faves Corrinne, Philip, and Malcolm and 1 Fan - Michael.   Who would think that Cochran would be doing so well at this point.   He's won 2 individual immunities - one the disgusting food challenge against Malcolm.  The other being a hold a proportion of your weight challenge against Eddie, Reynold, and Malcolm.. he did have an advantage purchased at the Survivor Food Auction - which was incredibly smart of him.     Malcolm purchased a clue to a hidden immunity idol, but then didn't go all out trying to dig it up.   Andrea was smartly glued to him watching him like a hawk... but heck, she should have started digging too.    So without an Idol and the rest of the tribe splitting votes, it went 3-Malcolm, 3-Reynold, 3-Andrea for a re-vote... at which time Malcolm got the boot. So now we are down to Brenda who was surprisingly the one with the emotional breakdowns last night. ...

Survivor Caramoan - Merge Time

Ok, after the recent Drop Your Buffs Tribe shake-up which left 2 tribes of 4 Faves and 3 Fans... clearly giving a numbers advantage to the Faves if only they could stick together.     Matt was sent packing, followed by Julia... leaving one tribe of 4 Faves and 1 Fan and the other tribe of 4 Faves, 3 Fans... Did we expect a Merge this soon?    Still a numbers game of 8 Faves and 4 Fans. Survivor - it's all about the numbers... or is it?  Is there some luck or skill along the way at winning challenges or playing a Hidden Immunity Idol at the right time?  Absolutely.    Is it having more than one "alliance"?  Absolutely Is it being able to be at the right place at the right time with the right people?   Absolutely Is it being able to take emotions out of the picture when you have a nutcase of a tribemate/alliance member?  Absolutely Is it making the right move at the right time to keep yourself in...

Drop Your buffs

Ok... time for a Survivor Caramoan update... Fans v. Favorites... I've been cheering for the Faves.. and aside the purple underwear, sometimes I actually find myself cheering for Phillip if he is the one that is holding on to the last straw that secures an Immunity Win for the Faves. The Fans have still been mostly forgettable. The Favs are also rather lackluster; I'm pulling for Malcolm to come out with the overall win this time.. but he may be a bit too confident for his own good with a Hidden Immunity Idol in his pocket. I've been impressed with Cochran's strategizing and below the radar play. He's also shown he can get into the mix in a physical challenge. If he makes the merge with numbers, he'll make it far because the other tribe members will think they can beat him in anything physical.  So we entered last night after a fireworks-of-an-exit by crazy Brandon last week.. with Tribe numbers at 8 Faves vs. 6 Fans... both tribes feeling good about the...

Survivor Caramoan

Fans vs Favorites II Ok, first impressions of Fans v. Favorites II - 1) Who are these favorites????  I haven't missed a Season of Survivor and have rarely missed an episode on its original air date... but who are these favorites???!!!.   There's new kid Malcolm from Survivor Phillipines and he was one of my faves during his season.  Cochran who was also one of my faves if only because he reminds me of Mama's eldest - and in true fan spirit, he did try to make some moves during his season of Survivor.   Dawn was in Cochran's season as well and seems to be working well with him even though he totally screwed over her plans during their season.   Phillip is a nut and why bring back those awful fuscia underwear?   I hope he goes home soon.   Brandon is playing a bi-polar psycho for this round - which should keep things interesting should he stay around. Francesca went down in Survivor history as the only player to be voted off ...

Survivor Phillipines

The Final Four - Malcolm, Denise, Skupin & Lisa The first time in a long time that a generally likeable group made it to the Final Four. Malcolm and Denise came back from a totally decimated tribe. Skupin and Lisa became unlikely partners on their tribe. Malcolm- I figured if either he or Denise made it to the Final Three, that he or she would win... If both made it to the Final Three, I pegged Malcolm as the Final Survivor for his athleticism, likeability, and work around camp. Knew when he lost the final Immunity Challenge - even with the advantage of a free re-set of the balancing the ball game - that he was headed to the Jury. He was clearly pissed at Lisa and Skupin with whom he had brokered a Final Three deal. Lisa - Such an awkward player and yet clearly knew enough about the gameplay needed in the game of Survivor to squeak through to the Final Four. Definitely left all of her emotions in the behind-the-scenes vignettes out there for us to see. Was open with h...

Survivor Phillipines

This has been an interesting season so far on Survivor.   First divided into 3 tribes of 6 to help alleviate the 5-person alliances that stay strong throughout the whole season.   They brought back 3 returning veterans that had been evacuated medically from the game - Mike Skupin from Australia Outback (The Original Evacuee/ fell in the fire); Russell S from Samoa (extreme dehydration), and Jonathan Penner from Cook Islands & Micronesia (knee infection). Of the 3 veterans, I like Penner the most; I think he's learned from his prior 2 experiences and, at least, from what the final edited show reveals that he is playing strong socially and strategically.    Russell still talked too much... mainly about how not to play the game; but then he would turn around and play it the exact way that he knew not to play it... it's a small miracle that he lasted long enough to get voted out 4th.    Skupin is just another accident away from being evac'd again, I think. ...

Survivor One World Finale

Survivor - One World has really just been a lackluster season.  The cast with the exceptions of probably Colton, Troyzan, and Tarzan has been generally unmemorable.   The final five women - Alicia, Christina, Chelsea, Sabrina, and Kim were smart enough to vote out Tarzan to leave the women to duke it out for the final challenges.    Kim, Chelsea, and Alicia ran a pretty tight race in grueling challenge to run across a balance beam maze; collect puzzle pieces; solve the puzzle to get 3 numbers for a combination lock to release the flag.   Kim won this one and it was a nail biter to see if it would be Chelsea or Alicia headed to the jury; it ended up being Alicia; leaving a tight 3 of Kim, Chelsea and Sabrina and the outsider, Christina. The final immunity challenge was one that involved maneuvering pottery bowls using a long stick thru a maze on a spring and stacking 10 of them.  Christina made it a tight race with Kim and truthfully I was...

And then there were six

Survivor, One world.. get to the merge at 6 vs 6, Men vs. Women.. and the Women do a grand job of picking the men off one by one...  Tonight's episode started with 6 women and the lone man standing - Tarzan.   Which one will be voted off next, this time on Survivor.... Reward Challenge - It's Sprint Family Member helps or hinders you with the Reward Challenge time...   family members arriving... Kim - Sister Sabrina -Brother Chelsea - Father Christina - Father (kidney transplant survivor) Alicia - Sister ( I think; I wasn't paying that much attention because I think she should have been voted off weeks ago) Kat - Cousin Tarzan - Wife Survivor and their loved one were tied together to a long set of balance beams with ropes and they had to basically work with rope management to loosen enough for the first team member to get thru and then the second one.. first team to the end wins a reward of lunch with their loved one... worth playing for?  Sa...

Men's Meltdown Continues

It's been a fairly lackluster season on Survivor, One World.    There really hasn't been a super-villain since Colton got evac'd on medical.   The men seem dumber than dirt; though some of the women are even dumber.... ok, seriously, shouldn't 19yr old Kat know that the B in a B-L-T sandwich is Bacon???  Of course, she was also having trouble bidding in multiples of 20. Yes, that's right; it was Survivor Auction time.   Chelsea scored three doughnuts and coffee for $160. Sabrina paid $400 for guacamole, chips, and a margarita. Leif spent $100 for a protein shake and a couple of bananas.   Kim scored a shower for $40.   Kat got a BLT for $180.   Alicia scored a letter from home for $500 and Tarzan offered to spend the same.   Kim got peanut butter and chocolate.   Troyzan offered bookoo bucks for an advantage in the immunity challenge.  Kat got a cake for the whole tribe and 60 seconds to de...

Survivor, One World continues

Ok, I know it's been several episodes since I've posted.. and things are heating up... they had an early merge and went 6 vs 6 Women to Men.  The first week, they voted off Jonas to the first member of The Jury basically because he was a fairly likable guy... In my opinion, the guys should have stuck to a gender block against the gals and the gals against the guys and target their strongest athletic person - which would have been Mike on the guys and I think Chelsea for the girls... 'cause at this point you have to start worrying about individual immunities and awesome challenge abilities like Ozzy or Matt from Redemption Island.   Count 6 Women vs. 5 Men.  Guys you were stupid! Last week, the girls finally got it together strong enough to vote of a Strong athlete in Mike... and even get some of the guys to turn against him... way to go Girls... again, big dumb move guys; Why aren't you all working on the gals that are on the outs with the women i.e. Christina (tho...

Survivor, One World - Weeks 4 and 5

Week 4 - Ok, how stupid was the All-Male tribe and what on earth were they thinking-- Win the immunity challenge and give it up to the Women and go to tribal council to vote off one of their own?!??!!!   Have they NEVER watched Survivor--- ever???? Week 5 - Tribal Shake-Up.. oh, and I do think they will have to do more of these in future seasons to keep strong 5-person alliances from sticking together.    Interesting - pick and egg and splash some paint.   By luck of the draw, one tribe got all the strength and athletic ability; while the other tribe did not.   And for the tribe that did not, why on Earth are they letting Colton run the show.. I think he is now the most unlikeable Survivor in the history of the show. What will Week #6 bring?

Survivor One World, Week 3

Hooray, the women's tribe isn't a bunch of total losers after all... oh, quite a bit whiney and apt to use their feminine charms to get a little fire.. but at least they finally won not one challenge, but two!    Totally smoked the men in the Reward challenge for a canoe and fishing gear ~ though I would sooooo let the men use that canoe on the agreement that there is a shared catch... and then a come-from-behind win on a challenge that was part communication (the caller gets the blind tribemates to fetch puzzle pieces along an obstacle course) and part puzzle solving (caller then has to put together the puzzle). So the men were off to Tribal Council.. and in the end they got rid of Matt... it will be interesting to see how the men use or don't use Colton's not-so-hidden immunity idol.    Personally, I would have kept Matt around for strength and gotten rid of Troyzan or Tarzan as older liabilities on the tribe... and besides, Matt was much better eye can...

Survivor One World, Week 2

Ok, if it keeps up like this, I'd expect the Women's tribe to go down in flames... well not really flames because they can't fricken make fire... but they are going to just get dismally beat every week if it keeps up like this.  Also, Colton gets my vote for most irritating Survivor player eve ~ outcast by both the men's tribe and the women's.

Survivor, One World

Survivor, One World - First Impressions Men vs. Women... We've done this before; but it is interesting when they are on just one beach. One Beach... Hmm, we've done that one before, though the tribes thought they were merged and it turned out they weren't. Redemption Island - Gone... good, it really is a bit of a different dynamic in the game when you vote someone they are out vs. when you vote someone out they have a chance to come back.   Maybe they will go back to a final two to the jury. Women's Tribe - Generally wimpy so far.   Though I like the gal that caught the chickens and the one that is the fire keeper.   The Chicago chick is ghetto and can go.  The African American lady seems with it though she may get ditched early by her tribe based on age.  Got a lucky break that they only lost Tattoo Girl from a broken wrist and that Probst didn't have them also vote off someone. Men's Tribe - Early favorite is Leif and possibly Matt the...

Survivor South Pacific Finale

Pretty much I was rooting for Ozzy to pull out all the stops to win or Sophie as the last girl standing.  Especially, since Sophie did not play the Sexy Siren role as so many of the prior female winners (except Sandra) had played.     So in the final Redemption Island duel, it was Ozzy over Brandon.   For Ozzy to return to the game.   Then in a house of cards while balancing them ala the dishes challenges, Ozzy won Immunity leaving Coach, Albert, Sophie, and Rick to pick off one of their own.   Rick's easy-going manner got him booted off for fear by the others that he would go to the finale and win jury votes simply because he hadn't pissed anyone off.  The final challenge was part physical with an run thru a series of rope obstacles to garner 5 bags of puzzle pieces; followed by a puzzle of placing 8 flowers within frames that rotated.  I called that Ozzy would easily make it back first with all of his puzzle pieces d...

Why?

Rangers vs Cardinals Game 6 was rained out and rescheduled last night... so I got to watch Survivor South Pacific on schedule as usual with Mama C.      All I can say to think about that episode is WHY?!?!!   Ok, obviously Cochran screwed up that challenge for his team with the snafu on getting the team back out on the course.   Dawn, in particular, has to be glad that Cochran has been such a screw-up in challenges that she has been relatively safe since losing her main ally, Papa Bear.   Whitney- what does she really add to this tribe?   Ozzy - is that move brilliant or is that move idiotic?   WHY would you tell anyone that you have the Hidden Immunity Idol in the first place?   Then once you tell everyone that you have it, why don't they vote against you to force you to use it, which may or may not put it back into play?    Why don't they hide some "fake" idols.. even leave them with a note that says, you found one, but this i...

Survivor South Pacific

OK, we're to Week 3 of Survivor South Pacific and still getting to know the tribes... here's my first impressions... First- returning Survivors-- Colby!    Just kidding, he's clearly my favorite Survivor veteran, but I found him on the History channel Hosting a show called Top Shot . The real returning players- Coach and Ozzie. First - Cut your hair!  You might be out in the middle of nowhere for 39 days, I'd think you'd want to cut your hair before you go-- it will grow back. Second- Did you learn anything from your prior outtings on the show?   Mixed bag here... Coach is still a bit irritating, but clearly the others on his tribe look to him for a bit of guidance as to what to do out in the middle of nowhere.    Ozzie- as athletic as ever and has already found a Hidden Immunity Idol.  But why on earth did he blab about it to Keith?  Will he go home with another idol in his pocket? Albert- Don't know much about this guy yet, but he seem...
