Great Celebration

In spite of the straight-up middle-of-the-week landing of my birthday this year, I had a great day of celebrations.    Facebook is great for reminding your friends and family near and far, so the birthday well wishes were in abundance throughout the day.   I also received several text messages and emails throughout the day wishing me a Happy Birthday.  I even received a few singing voice mail messages. At the office, I had a surprise of "my little princess" Miss Zelenka coming to deliver a special surprise she had been working on in my favorite color red.   A great hand made card from my little one along with a bouquet of paper roses with Ferrero Rocher chocolates.    I left the office at 1:20 for a personal appointment at 2p; completed that errand and went home to finish up homework for my summer class of Ethics. After I finished off ethics homework that was due late tonight, I worked on part of the homework due on Saturday and then joined family ...

Happy Birthday!

This year's birthday finds me in far better spirits than last year's birthday... and that's a very good thing!   I've started off the day with some quiet moments to work on this week's PM reading assignment; a rousing game of Mousey with Mocha; and a shower.  I'll soon depart for my doctor's office for my annual physical... oh joy.. but it's what fit in their schedule and mine.   This afternoon, hopefully the A/C guys will show up early in the afternoon instead of late.  This evening it will be a birthday dinner out with family-- Mama, Harrison and Hunter!    I am so very blessed to have reached another candle on my cake and still surrounded with many people that I love and who love me in return. I received $moolah$ from Mina, Stan, and Teddy on the cruise which I converted to a trip to Jewell Gardens with Glass Blowing.   Some other great moments on the ship were Rumba and Cha Cha lessons with Harrison and of course Name That Tune ...

Birthday

My adopted family celebrated my birthday yesterday since it fit in everyone's schedules the best.   I spent last night at my house with Mocha.  My absentee soon-to-be ex was off to east Texas for the weekend.    Today, I tried to reflect on words of wisdom from my friend Griff  "Another b-day means two important things: 1) you’re still alive, and 2) you’re alive for a reason. You still have work to do on this earth that is both significant and time sensitive."   and from Laurie who advised that I can celebrate Me on ANY day, not just my birthday. I tried to sleep late; grabbed a shower; and then had birthday breakfast at Paradise Bakery with ham and cheese croissant and half a cinnamon roll.   Then I went shopping around to look at laptops.  Normally, the technology-hooey is a task handled by and enjoyed by the soon-to-be-ex; so it's a new adventure for me.    Headed ba...

The Best Village Birthday Celebration

They are my rock and my family.   Actually managed to sleep late this morning... well, truthfully, I was up abit early and went back to bed.  Met BFF at a local day spa for a pedicure and manicure.  Then I grabbed a double-doozie small cookie at the American Cookie Company.   Stopped at my house to feed Mocha and grab some kitty cuddles.  Then on to Mama's for an afternoon of  BBQ and pool time.   Deviled eggs, BBQ burgers w/swiss, cheddar, and provolone, corn on the cob, baked beans, baked lays and french onion dip... yummy!    Gifts included cash and a gift card from Stan, Mina, and Teddy to go along with the Advent birthday gifts; 5 terrific knitting books from the boys (along with Mama's help and a great wishlist feature at Amazon!); my Christmas quilt hand quilted from Auntie Jill.  Pool time to catch some sun and fun.   The boys went off to a Magic preview event and Stan had to go to work.   Mama, Mina, and...

Advent 18

Notepads! If knitting were a drug, I'd be checking into rehab. I'll show you my stash, if you show me yours.

Advent 17

A matching Knit One, Purr Two coaster.

Advent 16

Today's advent gift is another cute coaster featuring a knitting cat and the phrase "Knit One, Purr Two", LOL.

Advent 15

A combination pen with retractable measuring tape... yes, we knitters own a lot of measuring tapes.. namely because they are never around when we need them.. much like bobbins and stitchmarkers.

Advent 14

To aid in low-level light knitting... hmm.. I don't do that very often; but now I have a tool to add to my knitting notions in case I do.   Or at the very least, I'll be able to play laser light chase with Mocha.

Advent 13

Stitch markers featuring cats in the Laurel Burch style...  they are pretty; but not yet sure how practical these fancy stitch markers are.. I'll have to test them out next time I have a project with complicated multi cable or lace runs in them.

Advent 12

Super cute coasters... and of course my fave is the one that has the siamese kittens.

Advent 11

100% wool and I heart Knitting This cute stainless steel tumbler; great for hot or cold beverages.  The sheep is so cute with its 100% sash, LOL.

Advent 10

I am the Last Knitter Standing tote bag... suitable for yarn and projects; it currently holds my 2011-2013 Stampin' Up!  Incolors and sneak peek items from the upcoming catalog.

Advent 9

A modular knit pattern book by Iris Schreier ~ who is also the designer of my fabulous wavy scarf that I knit from fantastic beaded  Artyarns given to me by Hunter & Harrison last year.

Advent 7

A Knit Picks Knitting needle sampler in Harmony Wood, Nickel Plated, and Zephyr Acrylic.    I already own 3 sets of interchangeable needles and several other straight and circular singles.. but hey, a knitter can always use more needles.

Advent 6

A Christmas ornament featuring knitting needles and yarn.

Advent 5

Yarn bras for handling slipper skeins... I don't have any of these.. but probably like bobbins and stitch markers, when I really need one, I won't be able to find where I put it in my knitting notions.

Advent 4

A knit happy blank journal for knitting notes or other thoughts.

Advent 3

Very cute beaded stitch markers.    Of course, like my plain jane stitch markers, they will magically disappear when I start knitting a pattern where stitch markers are required. Love 'em!

Advent 2

A colorful yarn inspired mousepad for the home or office..or home office.  Love it!
