Oh Crud!

Whilst having dinner with my BFF/Cycling partner I realized that we are just like 16 or so weeks of training time away from the DFW MS150. It's been kind of tough since the LiveStrong Challenge at the end of October for me to get back in gear with regular visits to the gym. So we're committed to getting back to our post-work gym visits starting January 5th when we are both recovered from the holidays, work-stresses, etc.

DFW MS 150 2008

Well, it's that time of year again, my 3rd time to ride in the DFW MS150 tour.... please let us have sunshine and pretty riding weather without signs of Dorothy & Toto about to drop out of the sky! It's a cycling adventure from Frisco to Ft. Worth Texas with about 75 miles each day for a total of 150 miles. I haven't completed the ride yet; but I've improved the past 2 years and expect improvement again this year.. especially since my dearest girlfriend is also my cycling partner. My hubby normally participates as a volunteer with the Motorcycle Marshals but this year he has to move his Call Center from their current facility to a new one. I am hoping that this cycling season will help me to shed some pounds in my quest to reach my goal weight and become a Keeping Off Pounds Sensibly (KOPS) member at my TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) chapter. For those who would lovingly support my ride with a tax-deductible charitable donation, you can donate securely online at ht...

Cheesy Jersey 2008

One of the reasons I ride is for the JERSEY!!! In 2006 with Plano Cycling & Fitness/Team Ticket and it was a nice blue with black and red highlights. In 2007, I recruited my best girlfriend to join me on the ride and we joined Feisty Devils since they have one of the coolest jerseys around. Unfortunately, apparently they only have flat-chested and/or teeny women riders on their team as they didn't have a jersey that would fit either my best girlfriend or I.... I mean, even if I was at my goal weight, these jersey's would have never fit across the bust. So here in 2008 this year, we've joined the Frito-Lay team... no, we don't work for Frito-Lay; but heck we've eaten plenty of Frito-Lay products, so that should be qualification enough.

MS150- 2007

MS150-2007, Breakpoint 1. My best girlfriend Mina (left in the yellow) and me in the orange.

2007 DFW MS150 - Day 2

Ok, we started the day with a 4am wakeup call to get a shuttle by 5-5:30 to get to TMS in time for the start of Day 2. The weather had forecasted for severe storms by noon... so my partner in crime and best girlfriend Mina and I were kind of the fooey we don't feel like riding, where's the bus back to Frisco mode... but off to breakfast for a couple of pancakes (there was also eggs, bacon, sausage, etc)... but not real heavy eaters in the morning anyhow. Off to collect the bikes, oh goodie they made it here after leaving them for pickup at lunch yesterday. we go line up and we're in the first I'd guess 500 riders to line up. Then we get held at the starting zone due to an 18-wheeler overturned near the lunch spot.. so we didn't get to leave until 720. By this time many more riders have lined up.. probably a good chunk of 2000 more riders... and so by this time Mina & I (the novice riders) and some Sam's Club novice riders are debating the wisdom of ...

Big Ouchies!

With the MS150 cycling tour next weekend, Mina and I did 2 loops around White Rock Lake yesterday for nearly 20 miles. We were set to do another 20 or possibly 30 miles today.. but I had a pretty spectacular crash at the bottom of the hill at the bridge across the spillway. Thankfully, the pack of bikers behind me didn't run me over or crash also. They were all super nice and made sure I was up and going and each one in the pack checked on me as well. They even recognized us on the other side of the lake and asked if I was doing OK. I've got black and blue marks and one heck of a scrape across my left elbow.. was one of the longest 4 1/2 miles back to the car ever... for a while there I even thought it beat the last 5 miles of the 25 miles short course of Hotter than Hell. Pretty much my left arm from shoulder to wrist to a heckuva beating and my right inner thigh also sporting black and blue marks. Pretty much, right now I'm learning how much I take that left...

April Fool's Day

Well, it is April 1st and less than 5 weeks to go for the DFW MS150. New plan of action is that my best girlfriend and I are aiming to reach the lunch spot each day and shuttle in to the finish line. Tax deductible donations can be made online at http://ms150.org/edon.cfm?id=192605 The weather has been nice this weekend; I've gotten out for a bit of walking and some fresh air. Poor hubby has been stuck with work all weekend since their building was hit by lightning during the spring storms on Friday night. On the knitting front, I've cast on a new baby tank top for Kaitlyn who turns 1 in June.. my how time flies. I've also managed some more rows on the pink basket weave blanket for Kierra... getting close to the cast off on that one, Yippee!

DFW MS150 2007

Oh my gosh, it's only 11 weeks away! The DFW MS-150 cycling tour from Frisco to Ft. Worth, Texas. You can support my DFW MS150 Ride with a tax deductible donation online at: http://ms150.org/edon.cfm?id=192605 I rode 1/2 of Day 1 last year before sore rebuilt knees and tired rear put me in the SAG for the remainder of the day. I hope to complete much more of the tour this year since I have my best girlfriend along... here's a pic of the two of us at the 2006 Hotter Than Hell tour in Wichita Falls, TX last August {and even the 25 mile version of the tour lives up to the name!!} I'm 1201 in the colorful jersey and my best girlfriend is in the white. We're even nuts enough that we're headed back the Wichita Falls this summer too... but first to survive the DFW MS150. The training plan for the next 10 weeks is something like this... Week MO TU WE TH FR SA SU TOTAL Recommended Ride ...
