On Track

Post Hawaii, I had a 1 pound loss at JC last Saturday and I feel like I'm on track.   I've got my Body Media Fit monitor on and I've been following my JC plan with the ocassional breaks for pancake or biscuit breakfast with Mama and Hunter -or- for a dinner out.. which I think tonight may be Joe's Italian :) My plantar fasciitis pain was alleviated by a visit to Dr. Ashton last Friday and a good ol' shot of cortisone.   My cholesterol count was down enough that I don't have to go back until my physical in June.. which turns out will be a birthday pap smear kind of day, oh joy. Mocha and I are getting settled into a routine and I'll be tackling more unpacking and organizing in the weeks ahead.

On Track

I'm feeling on track these days... I managed the holiday season with averages of 1 pound losses per week; but then post-Hawaii (January), I've been struggling with the same 3 pounds off, on, off, on, off, on...the plantar fasciitis injury hasn't exactly been helping my weight loss mojo... but the neurotherm treatment should resolve the last of that issue.  So back to the tried and true formula of planning out my JC menu to include various non JC meals out.  This week has included several outtings to celebrate Mama's birthday ~ La Hacienda, Olive Garden, and Los Charros; plus last night post-TOPS we had our weekly dining out option, this week to San Miguel's.    In spite of all that, I planned ahead for those eating lightly at other times, getting in my exercise and water and so forth and had a loss at TOPS last night :)    Hopefully, that will translate to at least a turtle or a loss at the JC scale with Liz on Friday.    And sin...

Step Away From the Cookie

It's not very often that I experience a pure unadulterated FURY... but today was one of those very rare times... and it was at a time when I was hungry anyhow because my eating schedule was just simply off kilter today.. and lessons learned were to pack a snack bag for the car whether I think I'll need it or not and to listen to the hungries when they give me the warning signs. Alas, I had cleaned out my JC stash from the car; and the one edible in the car was a gingerbread molasses cookie that I had gotten with my lunch at Paradise Bakery....and a rational voice inside me whispered "Step Away From The Cookie" Oh the the hungry part of me wanted to just go ahead and eat that cookie.. but there was a cognizant part of me that along with listening to the whisper... that was remembering the part of the TOPS pledge that says..  "I will control my emotions, and not let my emotions control me".. and recognizing that I was mad, mad, mad, mad, mad (Mi...

Veggies are a Big Win

Generally speaking, I could probably skip veggies and I wouldn ’ t really miss them.  I guess it doesn't help matters that I LOVE starchy veggies like corn, peas, and lima beans.  However, since I ’ ve really been trying to work on balanced, healthy eating on my Jenny Craig plan, I do make an effort to get in at least 2 veggies a day (and on really good days, sometimes more). Wins for this week: Veggies!!! Tue – Green Giant Garden Vegetable medley with Sugar Snap Peas, Roasted Potatoes, Red Peppers and Garden Herbs . Wed - Green Giant Health Heart Blend with pearled barley, sugar snap peas, julienne carrots in an extra virgin olive oil/herb sauce. Fri - Green Giant Immunity Blend with  cauliflower florets, sliced orange and yellow carrots and dried cranberries lightly tossed with a flavorful butter sauce . Mott ’ s Medley Apple Juice (grape is great too) is also great for slamming in 1 fruit and 1 veg with breakfast on the run. Workouts included cycling at ...

A Win

Green Giant Antioxidant blend.... cauliflower florets, sliced yellow and orange carrots, and dried cranberries lightly tossed with a flavorful butter sauce.  A win on trying a new veggie dish...but undecided on whether I would get this one again...but towards the No end of the spectrum.    It wasn't really bad, but it wasn't terribly terrific either.   I prefer the veggies in this piping hot, but the cranberries were better a bit cooler.   Still, it was a new dish...and a veggie that I don't typically choose...so it's a Win.

Makeover

Ok, still working on colorblends when having my JC turkey burger.  Today it is presented with tossed salad with baby spinach leaves, mixed veggies of zucchini quarters, green beans, and carrots in a light rosemary butter sauce (this was one of my new adventures for the week), and a fruit with more color...sliced strawberries.

JC On the Road

How'd I do... well, I did stop at JC and weigh yesterday on the way in from Austin.. and I did have a gain, which wasn't unexpected for the Road trip and being underhydrated on the way home (hey, some of those stretches of road have not even a bush to pee on much less a sparkling bathroom).  But for the food plan.. how did it go... Sat/Travel Day Breakfast at home - JC Breakfast Scramble, fruit, milk ~ Yes AM Snack- JC Anytime Bar & fruit ~ No Lunch- JC Chicken Salad kit, tossed salad, fruit ~ No/Opted for Chili's chips sans salsa and chicken fajitas and an orange PM Snack - 1/2 peanut butter sandwich, fruit ~ No Dinner- Out/TBD - Light pasta meal ~ Well maybe not light; but was Olive Garden chicken fettucine alfredo sans parsley; bread sticks; pasta fagouli soup; and 2 bites of BFF's lemon cake and 4 andes mints. PMSnack/dessert JC Toffee Cookies, milk ~ No Sun/Event Day Breakfast- Event Day Standard - Egg sandwich, hashbrown, diet coke ~ Yes, gotta ...

Road Trip

BFF and I are road-tripping to Austin this weekend for the Trek Tri. Normally, I don't bring Jenny Craig along on the road; but after the past month of staying on track and seeing results, I've invited her to go along and will be packing Jenny portables to go with including 3 JC Anytime Bars, 11 fruit servings, Bread & Peanut butter, 1 JC Toffee Cookies, 1 JC Smores bar; 1 JC Tuna Salad Kit, 1 JC Chicken Salad kit, and along the way we'll pick up some skim milk or yogurt. Road trip meals in the past have been pretty much 'anything goes' because I chose to leave Jenny at home. Instead this trip, the plan is Sat/Travel Day Breakfast at home - JC Breakfast Scramble, fruit, milk AM Snack- JC Anytime Bar & fruit Lunch- JC Chicken Salad kit, tossed salad, fruit PM Snack - 1/2 peanut butter sandwich, fruit Dinner- Out/TBD - Light pasta meal PMSnack/dessert JC Toffee Cookies, milk Sun/Event Day Breakfast- Event Day Standard - Egg sandwich, hashbrow...

JC Month 1

I've been back at Jenny Craig since mid-July and really following the food plan and tracking my weight since the end of August... so from the end of August (an all-time high on the JC scale) until the end of September, I'm happy to report I'm 8.6 pounds lighter, woohoo!     I've been really working at the food part of the plan with planning my menus; being able to reconfigure for some meals out; being able to reconfigure on the fly when needed because that's how life works.   I've also worked on rewarding myself (pedicure in Austin this weekend), a new knitting magazine, and some uninterrupted knitting time. Now, to focus on very consistent exercise... I've been aiming for 2-2-2 for 2 swim workouts, 2 bike workouts, 2 trek workouts... and some weeks it's more like 2-2-0, 1-1-1, 1-2-0 and so forth... so now my new aim is 30minutes of whichever activity at least 5 days per week...  I think October should be a pretty good exercise month since there...

Wins for this week

I've had one of the best eating-on-plan weeks even handling a few variations quite well.. we'll see what the scale says later.. but for now I am really proud of myself for following this so diligently.. now to get some more cardio in this week as last week was a lazy week with only 2 walking days. Each day I had either my planned Jenny Craig meals -or- my planned Meal on My Own Meals which were limited. "Meal on my Own" Options Tue night we had El Grande Burrito where I had a Chicken and Cheese quesadilla, sour cream, refried beans, and corn chips. Wed night for the Survivor watch party we had Rotisserie chicken, green beans, corn/cheese cornbread Sun night I went with Mama and our Undergrad student to Discover UTD and I had some cucumber slices, green beans, mashed potatoes, pasta, and just 2 little nibbles of chocolate brownie and chocolate chip bar... because I knew we would be stopping at Beth Marie's for ice cream where I had 1 scoop not 2.. in a bow...

She's mean

Well, yesterday it was off to see my JC counselor.. it was cold, wet, and rainy and I had forgotten to pack my weigh-in close.. and was running late from the office to get there (but made it on time anyhow)... so weighed in with work clothes (long pants, sweater, the whole 9-yards)... and came in with a 0.20 gain... ok, that's not too bad. For my goals last week to Keep a journal Exercise 3x Veggies 2servings per day Water 6 glasses a day Well, journaling went out the window early in the week... it's sooo not my thing; did good with the exercise and veggies; and got at at least 4 glasses of water a day... so room for improvement... but finally feeling over the bug that I got when we returned from Hawaii with energy flowing back. Called BFF since she is on the road for work and will be having rhizotomy on Monday and staying with Aunt T. for a few days to find out what food, if any, she needed to take with her.    Now I could have pretty much guessed at her fa...

JC Week 2

2 weeks of following my pre-planned custom menus and 2 weeks of losing in a row at JC. Down 1.4 this week. Happy Dance!! I already have my Week 3 menu done and ready to go; and my week 4 menu for my consult on the 21st too. BFF and I will stop at JC before we leave town for HHH on the 28th.

JC - New Week #1

Ok, I've been a JC client for a couple of years and have basically maintained my weight. So, I got back to the Centre to see my counselor last week to re-start with a fresh mind-set. Today, I actually was looking forward to weigh-in this afternoon. Even though my monthly visit from Mother Nature and her hormonal bloat arrived this week. I weighed in with a 1.2 pound loss, yippee! My exercise this week was 6 x 20 minute walks; 1 x 30 min cycling; no strength training. It was quite easy for me to deal with meals this week, since I had pre-planned them, so it was look at the list on the fridge; eat what's on the list or pack it for the office. My wins for the week: No fast food stops!!! That's a HUGE one for me. Only 3 meals out- On the Border for taco and empanada; El Grande Burrito for Chicken Quesadilla; and Chili's for big mouth bites, fries, chips, and split a chocolate molten and ice cream. No full-sugar root beer; the Diet Root Beer is just as yummy and no calories....

Happy Dance

Oh what joy, a 1 pound loss at TOPS tonight... so I'm sure the cycling is paying off...now to get back on track with the nutritional aspects... Truthfully, I've just been eating whatever I have felt like with all the cycling that's been going on... but nothing that's been out of control.... and no binge eating which is a victory itself. My JC Centre finally called to check in on me... duh, it's probably been 3+ weeks since I've been in.. I normally weigh-in at JC on the weekends.. was on Saturdays but then I moved to Sundays so that I could free-up Saturdays to ride with Plano Bicycling Association's novice ride.. and then I didn't end up doing that since my cycling partner and I have been managing to get to WRL to loop the lake or hit the gym. So I then moved weigh-in to Thursday ~ since the MS150 training schedule has the weekends tied up & since my counselor works that day plus it is a Rest day from all the cycling.. but I forgot my appointme...
