Poipu Beach

Poipu, Again!

Ok, so this was our last trip to Poipu for this voyage... in the morning we were greeted by grey skies and raindrops, so we aborted our full-day in Poipu and instead made a run for Wal*Mart in Lihue. At Wal*Mart, we were able to finish up our souvenier shopping and then we made a bee-line back to Grandma's to drop off that stuff (since it included meltable milk-chocolate macadamia nut clusters); quick transition and headed back for Poipu. We were then treated to partly cloudy skies but still enough sunshine to enjoy the afternoon. We were also treated to a Hawaiian Monk Seal and he/she actually got in the water and surprised quite a few of the snorkelers. You'll also see my Dad here getting a good old-fashioned belly laugh at my BFF and her dilemma regarding certain sandy feet issues. Hopefully once my BFF gets her film developed, there will be some decent pics of me there... you can see on my blog several of her since I was using my digital camera. Her digital ran out of juice...

Poipu Again

Off to Poipu again... initially we thought that it was a 2nd trip without a Hawaiian Monk Seal on the beach. However, we quickly located what we thought were a pair of seals on the island. Upon closer inspection, the pair of seals actually turned out to be one seal and one turtle. I could have gotten closer had I been willing to risk a wave knocking me off my feet along with my Canon camera... I played it safe instead. Chicken feeding, of course, but no catching of the chickens else Chris from Kauai-5-0 would have to return and this time he would know exactly who was the allegedly guilty chicken catching party. And of course plenty of sun, sand, and splash on this beach.

Spouting Horn

On the way to Poipu Beach for the day, we stopped at Spouting Horn .. took pictures, fed chickens, took more pictures, and warned Dad about Kauai-5-0 Chicken Patrol... after all, the place was crawling with Tourists and for sure KHS/Chris wouldn't want to have to come back down here to talk to him again. Then off to the beach for the day. I think this was the only day on Poipu that we didn't see a monk seal on the beach.
