Community Week

This week our office participated in "Community Week" to come together to make an impact on our local communities while building relationships with each other and being challenges as individuals.    Our group chose Project Linus and we spent an Wednesday afternoon creating 7 no-sew fleece blankets.  With a little help from another Project Linus volunteer, our donation was delivered to the area Coordinator that evening.     This is one of my favorite pictures from the event Thu 9/27/2012 2:33 PM Loni and team, Wow!  These blankets are amazing!  We get quite a number of tied fleece blankets but they are not always tied with such attention to detail.  The prints are amazing and the workmanship is superb.  The crochet edge fleece and the quilts are wonderful.  Such a talented group! Thank you for all of the hard work! Theresa Costin Project Linus Coordinator Collin/Dallas/Denton/Gray...

Project Linus

I had a pretty productive crafty weekend.    Mama C had picked up a pair of Project Linus kits at the Plano Quilt Show.    So I di this one while she worked on the other.    She is cursed by the bad project kits from the Project Linus kit volunteers as her kit was short some strips of fabric. On the other hand, I was able to finish piecing this quilt top and Mama C will sandwich and quilt it. My next items up in queue include quilting the borders of Mama C's Green with Envy aka Greenie II.  Sandwiching and quilting Patrick Lose for Project Linus. Sandwiching and quilting Auntie Jill's batik quilt Quilting Mama C's placemats.

Project Linus Don't Bug Me Challenge

I completed yet another Project Linus blanket; this one for a Special Challenge by the Collin/Dallas/Denton/Grayson/Rockwall Counties chapter.  I didn't snap a photo of the final tied project; but here is a picture of the kit available at JoAnn; I nabbed mine on sale for 50% off.   It turned out pretty cute for $11 and an hour while watching TV and keeping Mocha away from it. Challenge Name Don’t Bug Me Due Date Tuesday, March 8, 2011 Minimum Blanket Size Any size. Note: Please keep in mind the age bracket associated with your pattern/fabric.  When in doubt, bigger is better. Note: Inspiration for this challenge are children ages 8-12. Project Linus

http://www.projectlinus.org/ I am addicted to these no-sew fleece blankets... Today I was able to get a 6-foot folding table on sale as well as a a longer cutting mat (also on sale) to make the cutting a bit easier. Today I fringed two blankets for the gals at the office, and I used a skip stitch blade along the edges of this cute cat fleece that I picked up at Hancock Fabrics. I started the crochet edging in Lion Brand Microspun in the Turquoise. There are sooooo many cute fabric choices out there, but this one reminds me a lot of our new kitty Mocha. Mocha also enjoys it when I work on these at home, especially since she loves killing the selvage edge "snakes" and proudly drags her prey around the house.
