A Taste of Brioche Hat

Lisa K. Ross/Paper Daisy Creations is one of my favorite designers and Emma's Yarn is some of my favorite yarn.   Combine the 2 together with a kit from Emma's mothership aka Four Purls Yarn shop and the result is a pair of patterns in my queue.    A Taste of Brioche Hat (mittens are in my queue, but a few other projects are priority)...

Game Day MKAL 2025

I added Game Day Mystery Knit Along with Marly Bird to the queue; there was also a Mystery Crochet Along.  I didn't gauge swatch and should have... but I have plenty of yarn... Herrschner's Heather 8 worsted weight in Deep Sea and Teal Lake.  #mmmdi #gamedaymkal  So when your toddler-sized hat is much too big... and you don't feel like ripping it out... you finish it as a teen or adult sized cowl and you call it done and move on to other projects in your queue.  I'll probably give it another go on smaller needles so that I'm at gauge... but it was fun to knit along prior to the Super Bowl being on.

Ex's & O's

Ex's and O's the Lonely Hearts Club 2023 hat pattern by Becky Beagell of Nomadic Knits #nomadicknits.  Yarn is from Olive & Two Ewe Studios #oliventwoeweprojects on Homer DK base in Bad Moon Rising & Candy Shards  Ex's & O's by Becky Beagell colorwork  Steele claiming the ELB and the hat Steele is not amused

De Novo Hat

The De Novo Hat by Brooklyn Boy Knits/Louis Boria is the Knit Stars Yarniverse wardrobe basics KAL for Q4 2024.  Yarn is Fuzz Famly for Kraeo Big Brother Aran in Dirty Denim which is the Knit Stars colorway.  The pattern was easily memorized and made for an easy and relaxing knit.   It's a good candidate to adjust stitch count and yarn weight to make other sizes.

Go Go Dynamo

Go Go Dynamo is Stephen West's 2024 Mystery Knitalong (MKAL) Shawl  I had originally selected these colors to go into his Starflake shawl which was his MKAL in 2019.   I never got around to knitting that one, but it's in my project queue to get to someday.  I cast on Oct 3 2024 and was keeping pace but then put it on hold from Nov 9 2024 to Jan 19 2025 while I worked on some other projects like Stephen West's Fiber Fest Shawl as a sample for one of my favorite indie dyers that just launched her own small business; Knitmas 2024; and the Witch's Brew cowl.  The black yarn is Lazy Cat Yarn on their Luminosity base in Event Horizon; the Quick Fling (pink) is from Long Dog Yarn in their Bounce Sock base; and as my "mohair dare" I added in Bronte base from Olive & Two Ewe Studios in teh color Stargazer.  Stephen West shawls are an undertaking for sure -- but the results are showstoppers for sure!

Scarf in a Scarf

When the Yarny WIPOff 2025 challenge inspires you to do something about "The summer of my divorce" (2011) project.. all that was left was weaving yarn tails and blocking. I got the yarn tails woven and it's now in the blocking queue. It's never too late to finish, frog or toss. #yarnywipoff2025 . This was a 50/50 silk/merino blend in DK. The pattern is scarf in a scarf (linking comments). The garter is full of tension issues as I had not fully learned how to control tension back then and it is representative of the history of that emotionally hard summer. It also goes by the alternate name this scarf was dubbed by some as the "Your husband in an a-hole" scarf. Anyhow, into a blocking bath with some sage soap and then into a donation drop off to find a new home.

Rosy Cables

I've been inspired to deal with my Works in Progress aka WIPS thanks to this year's yarn challenge from Olive & Two Ewe Studios #yarnywipoff2025  This Rosy Cables pattern by JoAnne Turcotte was published in the January 2007 issue of Creative Knitting Magazine (yeah, remember when printed magazines were a thing).   I probably cast this on in April 2007 with Debbie Bliss Cashmerino DK purchased from my original and now defunct local yarn store, the Woolie Ewe.  So many great hours spent getting help from staff, taking classes, and of chourse shopping.       I'm pretty sure I sent this to the WIP timeout section because the cables were pretty intense for the fairly new knitter I was back then (I only learned to knit on Jan 1 2006).... and so it's moved a few times with me through life's changes and challenges and never made it out of exile...  until now.   The choices - Finish or Frog... hmmmm...  In the end, i decided to...
