Celebration

Yahoo! Just checked into my Amberton email to discover my final project grade was a 95 and the professor asked permission to share it via his blog where he shares student papers (with the student's permission) that he deems are good examples for the coursework. Woohoo! And I logged my Professional Development Units (PDU's) for the course on the Project Management Institute site and renewed my PMP certification as well. Yippeeeeee!!!!

FFI 20120518

http://fridayfillins.blogspot.com/ 1. When we  finally get checked in and onboard Holland America's ms Statendam, I think everyone will start to chill out and relax ! 2. My   head  is churning with the task list for today to clear out of the office without worry . 3. It'll be  mixed emotions in the upcoming two weeks; but more happy moments than sad ones because I'm spending it with family . 4.  Alaska  is a place I always wanted to visit, but haven't yet. 5. When I'm sad  I've learned to cry ; when I'm happy  I hum a lot and dance in my chair . 6.  I don't know much  about my community. 7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to  checking out of the office , tomorrow my plans include  packing my suitcases  and Sunday, I want to  enjoy the beginnings of a great vacation with family !

Survivor One World Finale

Survivor - One World has really just been a lackluster season.  The cast with the exceptions of probably Colton, Troyzan, and Tarzan has been generally unmemorable.   The final five women - Alicia, Christina, Chelsea, Sabrina, and Kim were smart enough to vote out Tarzan to leave the women to duke it out for the final challenges.    Kim, Chelsea, and Alicia ran a pretty tight race in grueling challenge to run across a balance beam maze; collect puzzle pieces; solve the puzzle to get 3 numbers for a combination lock to release the flag.   Kim won this one and it was a nail biter to see if it would be Chelsea or Alicia headed to the jury; it ended up being Alicia; leaving a tight 3 of Kim, Chelsea and Sabrina and the outsider, Christina. The final immunity challenge was one that involved maneuvering pottery bowls using a long stick thru a maze on a spring and stacking 10 of them.  Christina made it a tight race with Kim and truthfully I was...

Scary Moment

Last week started off with a bit of a challenge... it started off great enough with a text from Mama C around 7:26am wishing me a great day and such.. just a nice way to start of the morning.. but at 9:05 I got a simple text from her that said "Just got in wreck" Ruh - Roh! My responses were "Need me to come get u" and "And r u ok????" To which I got back a response as to where it happened and that she would need to go to the hospital eventually...  followed up with a 'They have just called ambulence" Well, that was all it took for me to re-arrange my one meeting for the day; set an out of office message; and exit the work place en route to the local hospital to get her paperwork started... I swear it took forever for EMS to arrive with her. It was a lesson in info that we need to have on hand (and I'll do that this week); but also the second time we've had to deploy the family emergency contact system; only this time she was the...

Helping Mommie match socks

And then there were six

Survivor, One world.. get to the merge at 6 vs 6, Men vs. Women.. and the Women do a grand job of picking the men off one by one...  Tonight's episode started with 6 women and the lone man standing - Tarzan.   Which one will be voted off next, this time on Survivor.... Reward Challenge - It's Sprint Family Member helps or hinders you with the Reward Challenge time...   family members arriving... Kim - Sister Sabrina -Brother Chelsea - Father Christina - Father (kidney transplant survivor) Alicia - Sister ( I think; I wasn't paying that much attention because I think she should have been voted off weeks ago) Kat - Cousin Tarzan - Wife Survivor and their loved one were tied together to a long set of balance beams with ropes and they had to basically work with rope management to loosen enough for the first team member to get thru and then the second one.. first team to the end wins a reward of lunch with their loved one... worth playing for?  Sa...

Belated Anniversary

I celebrated my 20th anniversary at the office on February 24th... It's hard to believe I've survived this long. I started in 1992 by typing 35wpm and passing both the credit check and drug test. I started as a telephone customer service agent and I've worked my way up to a Systems Engineer with one our software development team.  Along the way, I've become a certified information systems auditor (CISA) as well as a certified project management professional (PMP) and received my Bachelor's degree in Business Administration majoring in Information Systems & Technology.    I've recently returned to work on my MBA. We have done an acknowledgment at the office and one of these days we may actually schedule a department luncheon celebration.. but in the meantime, the Boss finally presented my certificate and the letter that allows me to go select my token of appreciation. So I opted for a Brother sewing machine so that I could work on piecing at home on my ...

Student-Teacher

When the student is ready, the teacher will appear. ~ Buddhist quote  Somedays we are the student; others we are the teacher.  I know that in the past year, I have been mostly a student.. and I've learned many lessons along the way.   While it may not have always seemed like I was absorbing the lessons, I really was tucking them away.    I pass them along or pass them back to whom I received them depending on how it goes.
