Spoiled

I spoil others in my life.. and Mama C probably thinks I spoil Hunter the most... but I spoil Mama, Mina, Stan and Harrison too... and I tend to spoil myself last... but today was a trip to The Woolie Ewe for one of their post-Christmas, pre-inventory sales days. Plymouth Angora in RED to make a beret and scarf set.  Debbie Bliss Angel - Kid Mohair/Silk blend in lavender to make a lightweight sweater shrug and some fingerless gloves.  Debbie Bliss Riva for a scarf  3 pattern books  Mirasol worsted for a Christmas 2012 gift Debbie Bliss Andes for a cabled hat for me So a very spoiled me.. and now to get my yarn stash unpacked and project queue organized!

Art by Loni

I ordered a free canvas print of this photo from Canvas People I took this photo at Huffines Art Trails in October 2011.  I figure it will look nice someplace in my new home.

Podiatry Update

The plantar fasciitis seems to be under decent control.  Only some low-level twinges first thing in the morning spiking to some Level 6's if I have been running around town on it all day.  Under control with some Rx anti-inflammatories and custom orthotics.    During the unpacking, I uncovered my alternate set of custom orthos, so those are in for refurbishing while I am in my other set.

DDS Visit

The periomaintenance visit went as good as can be expected after a week of sniffles and Dayquil.  I few pockets of 4's and a little bleeding, but Kathy was willing to let me go for 12 weeks with an Rx of meticulous home care.   Yahoo!

Christmas 2011

I was blessed to spend this holiday season with Mama Cheryl, Harrison, and Hunter.   Christmas Eve, Harrison had volunteered to make dinner which was a wonderful baked ziti and garlic toast.   After the kitchen was cleaned up, it was a family gift exchange.   Harrison had a wishlist, so I had gotten him Agricola which I tagged as Farmville Low-Tech and also a gift card to Olive Garden. Hunter didn't provide a wishlist, so for him it was cash wrapped along with a mix of favorites including Whoppers, Pretzel M&M's, Tim Tams, Hershey's Drops, Reese's Pieces, Magic Booster packs, and Cashews. Mama had selected beads for her interchangeable ring along with a gift card to Amazon and another turtle ornament for her new tree.   I received new additions to my knitting library along with a Mama C ornament and a knitting basket ornament that was Gigi's. Harrison also received various video games, card/board games; Hunter got Steam games and some other assorted ...

Simple things

Simple things that a Bed Bath and Beyond gift card can buy....trash receptacles for my house.  Ok, so you don't know how much you miss these things until you are in a new house without them. Thanks to Hunter and Harrison!

Survivor South Pacific Finale

Pretty much I was rooting for Ozzy to pull out all the stops to win or Sophie as the last girl standing.  Especially, since Sophie did not play the Sexy Siren role as so many of the prior female winners (except Sandra) had played.     So in the final Redemption Island duel, it was Ozzy over Brandon.   For Ozzy to return to the game.   Then in a house of cards while balancing them ala the dishes challenges, Ozzy won Immunity leaving Coach, Albert, Sophie, and Rick to pick off one of their own.   Rick's easy-going manner got him booted off for fear by the others that he would go to the finale and win jury votes simply because he hadn't pissed anyone off.  The final challenge was part physical with an run thru a series of rope obstacles to garner 5 bags of puzzle pieces; followed by a puzzle of placing 8 flowers within frames that rotated.  I called that Ozzy would easily make it back first with all of his puzzle pieces d...

Love and Laughter

Lots of love and laughter at Casa de Loni and Mocha tonight.. though Mocha was the new "Ghost" this year; since the old "Ghost" is now an ex.  Auntie Jill was out of town, so she missed the gathering this year.. but it was the only day-- literally day, that BFF could make it due to her insane travel schedule for work right now. We had pizza from Joe's along with chocolate cheesecake; BFF brought brownies and cookies; Mama brought deviled eggs.   After feasting, we exchanged gifts.. and I think everyone left very happy and very loved. I lost track of exactly who gave what to whom.. but for Harrison, I gave him a gift card to iTunes since he always has his beloved iPad in tow.   I gave his girlfriend a gift card to Pier One Imports.   For Hunter, it was a bag of Twix minis; 2 bags of butterscotch discs and $moolah$.  For Stan, it was a gift card to GameStop.  For BFF, it was a gift card to DSW along with JC Penney and two hand knit scarves.   One was...

Milestone 18

Happy Birthday, Hunter! Welcome to the grown-up world where you can now enter into legally binding contracts, vote, serve jury duty, register with the National Selective Service (required), no driving restrictions on your license, and buying your allergy medicine or some of your video games without a parent/guardian. You'll still get carded and your auto insurance rate will still bite; but you've reached a grand milestone. Have a terrific day and a grand 18th year and many more! Hugs, Blessings & Lots of Love Always!!!

Good Weekend

Well, during this 2011 between the separation and divorce, there have been good weekends and not-so-good weekends and a few terrifically awesome weekends usually involving my bike and/or a roadtrip.   This weekend was a weekend with family.. and that made it a really good weekend.    Saturday, I got some more of my stuff unpacked and then spent the evening at Mama's working on some sewing projects.  Today, we started the day at Mimi's Cafe where we also had the rare company of Mama's eldest and his girlfirend.  Then to the Randy Brodnax and Friends Christmas art show at Sons of Hermann Hall where I bought Mama's Christmas gift.     Between my cell phone and Ha's GPS, we managed to get to and from the Hall safely.    On the way back home, we stopped at the Big Half Price Books ~ I think it was a bit more of a challenge to get the the HPB store than it was to get to the Sons of Hermann Hall.    We all went off in our own directions; s...

Mocha,  Queen of the Boxes

Bahamas 2, Day 3

The day started with buffet breakfast in the Windjammer Cafe; followed by a quick stroll around deck separate from BFF while she finished up breakfast.  As soon as they announced, we were cleared to disembark for our day in Nassau, I made my way to Deck 1 and the exit.   I though BFF had departed ahead of me.  After checking for her in the market, I made my way back to to the excursion lady for the cruise ship and got a "Oh, you didn't get the letter?"... Ok, that didn't sound good, and I soon discovered that our morning tour for Stingray and BeachBreak had been cancelled and we had automatically been re-booked to the afternoon or could go back onboard to the Excursions desk to see if we could get out on a different morning tour.   So, I went thru Security to re-board the ship to discover a perturbed BFF waiting for me... and then even more perturbed when I told her our morning tour had been cancelled.   So off to the Excursions desk to see about a new tour. ...
