Good Weekend

And as for the weekend... Friday I was looking forward to a trip to The Woolie Ewe, Saturday my plans include working on the quilting queue and Sunday, I want to enjoy biscuits at breakfast! Well, I managed a trip to the Woolie Ewe after my JC visit (gained a pound; but it is that special bloatie time of the month).   I picked up some more Flounce to make a scarf for my Through The Seasons swap partner on Ravelry.   I also picked up some Triana in olive and purple to make yet another scarf for Mama.    I finished 2 Flounce scarves for her and a Sunday Market Shawl out of Noro Cash Iroha for my Through The Seasons partner.   I need only to weave in ends on these 3 scarves. I didn't get any quilting work done this weekend; but it's in queue.  Instead, I played with sticks and string and got some knitting done.   I cast on Flounce for my Through The Seasons partner this morning.   I also cast-on my red se...

Dinner Date

The Universe puts people into your life for a reason...  with Mama Cheryl, I got so much more Family out of the deal... I am so very blessed. Since I didn't cross paths with Mama yesterday morning, I got an email invitation to dinner with her and the College Boys to go to Saltgrass.   Well, that made my day because I had been craving steak; plus this project at work had been stresssing me out.       College Boys, in this case, meant not only the usual suspects-  Harrison and Hunter... but also Stewart and Kyle ... and the not quite College Boy Casey (he's got another year of high school yet) and Stewart's girlfriend Sarah came along too.    I met Casey's girlfriend earlier this week.   Both Sarah and Jennifer are just delightful and friendly young ladies.    I was the Designated Driver so that Mama and Kyle could enjoy their Texas Tea.   Harrison also had one; and I must say that w...

Flounce

It was very productive on the crafty front this weekend as I picked up some Flounce at the Woolie Ewe on the way home from Dr. Ashton's office on Friday.   Flounce is by Knitting Fever.    It's a bit unusual to knit with; but fun and yields a ruffled fabric.   So of course, when I saw this colorway, I had to pick it up to knit for Mama C.    She LOVES LOVES LOVES the scarves that I make for her.. and I am always on the lookout for unusual patterns and/or non-wool or animal fibers to knit with for her.      I cast-on Saturday morning and cast-off Sunday morning.   I need only to sew in both ends and the pair of weaves.   I even have enough of the 2nd ball of the yarn to make another scarf perhaps only 4 stitches wide instead of the 6 I used for this one.

Project Linus

I had a pretty productive crafty weekend.    Mama C had picked up a pair of Project Linus kits at the Plano Quilt Show.    So I di this one while she worked on the other.    She is cursed by the bad project kits from the Project Linus kit volunteers as her kit was short some strips of fabric. On the other hand, I was able to finish piecing this quilt top and Mama C will sandwich and quilt it. My next items up in queue include quilting the borders of Mama C's Green with Envy aka Greenie II.  Sandwiching and quilting Patrick Lose for Project Linus. Sandwiching and quilting Auntie Jill's batik quilt Quilting Mama C's placemats.

JC Reset

I've been in a maintenance mode and off plan most of the summmer. I've not gone totally off kilter during the summer. I've neither grazed endlessly in Mama's pantry and fridge; nor have I gone overboard exercising; nor have I skipped meals and snacks or played games counting carbs. I simply haven't been following a formalized plan. Well, got back to my regular JC counseling visits instead of weigh-in mode; got new measurements and will measure every 4 weeks moving forward. My one 'job' this week, JC-wise is to simply EAT THE FOOD. Now that sounds relatively simple, JUST EAT. But some days it has actually been a challenge to get it all in. Also, I still take Sunday morning for breakfast with family; Tuesday night dinner out post-TOPS; and Wed or Thu dinner by Mama. The rest of the week, so far, has been strictly JC menu.. and not one deviation along the way on the full JC days. Last night I had BJ's Brewery Chicken Lettuce Wraps fo...

Mocha Monday 20110808

Going into day 38 of 100+ degree days... have a great week everyone! Here's a pic of Mocha laying claim to R's jeans.

Fairly good weekend

With Friday ’ s Fill-Ins, my plans were: And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to seeing my JC counselor after work , tomorrow my plans include swimming and Sunday, I want to have breakfast with family . Well, Friday after work I did see Liz at JC and I ’ m in a re-set mode.   A small gain which is sitting in my brassiere (monthly bloat); and I wasn ’ t too concerned about it.    Took updated measurements.   On Week 1 of pre-planned menu, with the exceptions of subbin g some JC items for others because I cannot stand the preplanned item; French toast breakfast on Sunday; post TOPS dinner out on Tuesday (which will be BJ ’ s Brewery , Chicken Lettuce Wraps); and Mama ’ s weekly dinner on either Wednesday or Thursday …   I put it on my plan for Wednesday; but I am spinning on Wednesday and won ’ t get there until nearly 8pm and then I will desparately need a shower.. so it might be ...

Quilting

I quilted Mama's Green With Envy this weekend....even used the Big Bernina to do it... now only the borders remain to be quilted and then the binding. Other quilting projects in queue include sandwiching Auntie J's batik quilt and a Patrick Lose project for Project Linus. Then I have a Christmas Grinch quilt to work on for My Little Princess.

Laughter

I must say that this trip through Divorceville is no fun.. and while sadness seems to permeate my days... nearly every week Mama's youngest can just really make me laugh.... (though to be honest, the eldest can as well). Last night it was when we were watching Take The Money and Run... and Hunter made a comment about it might bug him a bit to be locked up on the show because he would become a bit OCD about TIME... and it just cracked me up.    I told him, Oh child, you get THAT from your Mother.    Mainly because I've been with Mama C on her post-anesthesia from her colonoscopy as well as her shoulder surgery.. and even as totally doped up as she was at the time, she was very concerned about What time it was.. and would ask repeatedly even as her mind was trying to clear the anesthesia fog. Anyhow, it is still possible to have good moments of fun and laughter in the midst of such a sad time in my life.. and I'm just glad that I have a Village to he...

Erma's Wisdom

If I had my life to live over … . If I had my life to live over, I would have talked less and listened more. I would have invited friends over to dinner even if the carpet was stained and the sofa faded. I would have eaten the popcorn in the 'good' living room and worried much less about the dirt when someone wanted to light a fire in the fireplace. I would have taken the time to listen to my grandfather ramble about his youth. I would never have insisted the car windows be rolled up on a summer day because my hair had just been teased and sprayed. I would have burned the pink candle sculpted like a rose before it melted in storage. I would have sat on the lawn with my children and not worried about grass stains. I would have cried and laughed less while watching television - and more while watching life. I would have shared more of the responsibility carried by my husband. I would have gone to bed when I was sick instead of pretending the earth would go into a holding pattern ...

Blooming Indeed

Wow, everyday it seems to bloom even more....there's magic flower mojo in Mama's kitchen.

Sad placemat

Poor Hunter's placemat looks so sad this week as he recovers from having his wisdom teeth extracted last Friday.  I hope he will be feeling up to the french toast tomorrow (he has been anticipating since Monday.)   If not, he may at least get a root beer along with his chocolate shakes tomorrow instead.

Grief

How-long-does-typical-divorce-recovery-take? It will take as long as it takes......  and I figure it will take a long time. I feel so utterly rejected an profoundly hurt and sad over this whole divorce thing.   And the soon to be ex also say he is hurting.. and I am having such a hard time with that.. yeah, maybe he hurts because he sees the pain he has caused.. or maybe he hurts because of his own failures... or maybe he hurts because it is financially destructive to both of us...  but he certainly doesn't hurt for being dumped by his wife. I liken the undoing of a marriage to trying to disentangle two trees that have grown next to each other for years. The more intertwined the root systems are, the longer it will take for the trees to go their separate ways. ~Susan Pease Gadoua Life will go on... and I'm sure that once my heart can heal and strengthen, that there will be happier days ahead.
