BFF is home

BFF is home... well, at least for a few days.    Doing a sunshine dance for Bike MS weekend... or at least hoping if it rains that it can contain itself to the nighttime non-riding hours. Tonight is Survivor night at Mama C's and Auntie J said she'd come over too and BFF makes a full-house... I so LOVE all of these women they are the kindest, most loving, generous,  talented and fun women that I could ever hope to have within my inner-circle... they are more than just friends, they really are family.

OMG It's this weekend!!!

Bike MS DFW ~ I've already made my minimums for this ride and for Tour de Cure San Antonio to Austin, but every dollar helps if you would like to donate, go to my site .   Elsewise, you can help my rides for Tour de Cure DFW , Make a Wish 100(no page yet), and LiveStrong Challenge Austin (Yes, shamelessly begging for money for charity... you know, my blog wouldn't be right if I didn't beg for one of my rides at least once a month... or more often ~ but it's all for good causes and hopefully will help me to shed the extra payload so that the 2011 Cycling Season will be a bit easier). Bike MS Checklist  ~~ our Team Captains compiled this, woohoo! Things to Pack On the bike: 1 Water Bottles (At least two - The pockets in your jersey can carry one extra) 2 Spare tubes 3 Identification/Medical Card 4 Money/Credit Card 5 Pump/CO2 cartridges 6 Tire Levers to get tire off rim 7 Optional: Towels/rags in case you have to work with your chain 8 Optional : Spare sock...

Great Weekend

Think it was a pretty great weekend... would have been better if my BFF could have been home, but such is her worklife that she is on the road a lot right now.... will be grand in the fall when she is home for a good long stretch... if the travel schedule holds true... there's always the chance that it could change. Friday, I took her hubby to the airport to fly out to spend the weekend with her. Saturday, I worked from home on some hand-stamping for 80 cards for Auntie Jill to use for a card swap for Soldier's Angels and then packed my stamping gear to finish the project at Mama's.  Met Mama C and Auntie Jill for lunch at Olive Garden, yum! Then went shopping at the Jockey store with Mama C and Auntie J where I got some new jammies... so I can leave the ratty Happy Bunny pants at home when I'm on the road... they are kind of like Mama's ratty robe... even though I have nicer stuff, not yet willing to let them go.  Also stopped in the Uniform Shop while Auntie ...

Hooray - Two in a Row!

Back from Corpus Christi, TX SRD 2009 with 2 weigh-ins and 2 losses in a row with 4.2 pounds gone!!!   Can I make it a Hat Trick with 3 losses in a row?!   That's what I'm going to focus on for just this week.     One day at a time, one step at a time, one week at a time, one pound at a time for the short term.     For the year ahead to Beaumont, TX and TOPS Wings of Change, I want to go shopping for a new outfit for the Leader's parade and have some significant changes in the curves displayed.    I believe we can find a cure for cancer!!!   http://austin2010.livestrong.org/loniholt

Clothing Size Woes

One of my Houston-based TOPS pals, a nice young man, was lamenting the disparities in sizing of Men's clothing between brands... Enjoy my reply below: At least be happy that Men's clothing sizes seem to make sense... since pants are in waist sizes and lengths.. shirts are in neck sizes and arm lengths and that sort of thing... In Women's you have all those 12, 14, 16 type sizes... and and then you have those W's like 16W, 18W, 20W where W = Womens... Oh and let's not be a short woman or tall woman either, cause then you have to look at for "P" for "Petite" or "T" for Talls..  though sometimes Petite means short, but other times Petite means tiny as in size 2 to 6... And then you have some of these other plus sized shops like oh where was I this weekend.. oh Fashion Bug.. and so instead of being a 22/24, instead you are like a size 3... and then no one seems to agree on sizing for what size a 0X, 1X, 2X, 3X in women's is... ...

Mocha Monday 20100412

Here's the pretty kitty herself... for another edition of Mocha Monday

I did my part

I got BFF to go to Texas Take Of Pounds (TOPS) State Recognition Days in Corpus Christi this year.    We had dinner and Survivor night at Mama's and stayed overnight since our outbound flight on Friday was scheduled for 7AM on Friday. Since BFF tends to be VERY Schedule driven on a Travel day, I left all of the decisions regarding scheduling to her.   I've just adapted on the travel days, most of the time, to her schedule. She had given me one task for Thursday which was to print our Boarding Passes...  My other part was to be ready to roll for the airport by 5:15AM on Friday.. I was and Mama the Chauffeur was ready also.   So for the record, I did my part :) Uneventful drive to the airport and to give her credit, BFF packed the LIGHTEST I have EVER seen her pack..though I would still prefer that she take a zippered purse please...  but we get there and there is a HUGE line to get thru security. Apparently, somewhere in BFF's "Pe...

Meltdown

The day started ok; I should have skipped the production support meeting and maybe things might have gone better today....  was extremely agitated over a request by my boss after that meeting (which I don't normally attend).. and his request went very against the grain and ended with an outburst from me walking out of the room with verbiage to the effect of 'and i'm tired of being y'all's secretary'... thank goodness it was time for lunch.  Of course, lunch didn't go much better.... except for the company of my BFF did make it lunch better & improve my spirits... 'cause at least by the end of it I was calmer and we'd had a good laugh... 'cause lunch was totally a child in tantrum meltdown was a coming... 'cause BFF chose a good burger joint.... so I ordered the combo cheeseburger with swiss and cheddar, cooked plain and well done on a white bun; fries and a soda.  What ended up at our table was cheeseburger where I can see lettuce.. o...

Happy Easter

Happy Easter 2010 It's been a lovely weekend so far.  BFF and I were invited to attend sunrise service with Mama.  Since BFF lives a good piece away, she was calculating what time she would have to get up in order to make it to service on time... and Mama's brilliant offer to just stay overnight so we could all sleep later.    So it came to be that our Saturday craft gathering became and crafting day and sleepover night.    I was able to cast-on the 2nd half of BFF's Eventide scarf and get the first 2beaded sections completed; 8 more to go.    BFF got some work done.   Mama got quite a bit of work done on the baby quilt she is working on.  Auntie J was very missed.   Mama's eldest was around while the youngest was on campus this weekend to do community service hours plus study.  In the evening, Mama fixed grilled cheesies and eggrolls and then BFF retired early due to a ...
