Travel Day

Well, Jan 23 was a travel day... arriving at the airport a little before 10am central time for the DFW to LAX flight which left at 12:35 central time. I got thru Airport Security without any issues; I guess I've finally learning how to pack my electronic gear and my knitting needles so I don't look like I'm trying to build a bomb or something. Had TGIF Sliders for my breakfast/lunch and then off to meet up with my Dad, Stepmom and StepGrandma. Ok, skip on to boarding time... and we have 2 legs for this journey to Kauai... DFW to LAX; then LAX to LIH (Lihue, Kauai)... get the seniors rounded up to get on the plane in Group 3 (American Airlines.. ok, so DFW is probably their biggest hub, Based Here; Best Here)... and StepGrandma has out her LAX to LIH boarding pass; so StepMom gets her to get those passes fixed up and then StepMom hands the agent her own LAX to LIH boarding pass.. the Agent was good about it though and jokingly told her, "You're not there yet".....

Fellowship of the Wheel

Ok, in my efforts to improve my cycling and improve my MS150 2-day experience as well as perhaps increase my HH100 ride in August, I've gone to clinics by Bikin' Mike Keel. http://www.bikinmike.com/ Last Saturday I went to Cycling for Weight Loss and today I went to Cycling a Century. Here's my notes to self: The Four A's of Weight Loss.. A#1: Attitude... Attitude is everything; get rid of the Stinkin'Thinkin'; Go neutral or go positive; but get rid of any negatives.Focus on the what you can do's; not the what you can't. A#2: Approach-- Start from where you are; participate in regular, normalload training program (not stress load!) A#3: Aerobic-- Make it Aerobic-- 70 to 80% of Maximum Heart Rate or Zone3-- you should be able to whistle, talk, or sing while you are exercising. Many people go too hard, Zone 4 (80 to 85% MHR) tooearly in a new fitness program A# 4: Acceptance-- Accept that changes will take as long as it takes Luckily, my training p...

Finally a new post

Gee.. it's the 19th and I had intended to update my blog more often than this..... Just been busy I guess... I leave for Kauai to join family in celebrating my Grandmother's 96th birthday. I'll be traveling with my Dad, StepMom and StepGrandma (all 3 retired); we would have loved for my husband to go too, but he is stuck on a project from H**L that is behind schedule. On my workfront, I'm also in the midst of various projects but am headed for the Pacific without the corporate laptop, pager, or voicemail contact. Additionally, my best pal is headed to South America for 3 weeks to do an operational audit for our company.... so I guess if I have to be separated from my "twin" from a different set of parents then this would be the time to be separated. For the time that she is gone to South America, I will only be in the office without her for Monday and Tuesday this week; and then the Wednesday of the week she returns. She gets home that Saturday (actu...

2007 Goal Review

Well, here's the results from my 2007 Goals... Knit or Crochet 1 item for charity for every pound I lose this year with a goal of 25 pounds! Ok, I did the knitting and crocheting and got 25 items done for http://www.stitchesfromtheheart.org/ but I did not reach my weight loss goals. Follow the Jenny Craig Program to lose those extra pounds; I followed Jenny part-time and when I did, I’d lose; but when I’d eat on my own, then not so much. Ride in the DFW MS150 cycling tour in May; Yippee! Did this with over 20 miles on each day and raised over $300 for the National MS Society Ride the 25 mile short route of the Hotter than Hell 100 cycling tour in August; got a new road bike for my birthday and had a total blast riding this year. I left with the tandem cyclists; hit the first rest stop at about 8am and finished after 9am. The only thing better would have been if Mina had been able to ride instead of recovering from knee surgery. Exercise 3x per week; Averaged out to this; some week...
